Cash for tasks and weekly allowance are different choices
Optional weekly allowance
Choose a weekly amount and payday for a person. Chorby records the allowance each week. You can link scheduled tasks to full allowance and choose a deduction for missed required tasks.
A Money Plan brings the rules together: weekly allowance, required tasks, extra Cash, and recent money changes. Cash profiles have a Money Plan even without allowance.
An example week: allowance plus one extra job
Suppose your family chooses a $5 weekly allowance and a separate $2 Cash reward for an extra job. With no deductions or other changes:

- Extra task completed and approved
- +$2
- Total recorded earnings for this example
- $7
If you then give your child $7, record that payment as a withdrawal from their balance. Recording a withdrawal does not send money.

Decide the allowance rules before the week starts
- Choose the arrangement. Task Cash, weekly allowance, or a combination can work in the same family. Agree on which work belongs to which arrangement.
- Make required work clear. You can link scheduled tasks to allowance for people who already have allowance enabled. Open and Occasional tasks cannot be required for allowance.
- Choose whether missed tasks affect allowance. Deductions are optional. Set the rule in advance so a child knows what to expect.
- Review the record together. Compare the Money Plan and transaction history before providing the actual money. Add a note to manual deposits or withdrawals when useful.

Not a kids debit card
Chorby is a chore and allowance tracker. Its Bank is a record of balances and transactions; it is not a bank account. Chorby does not connect to your bank, hold your child’s money, transfer funds, or issue a debit card.
Use cash or your usual payment method, then keep the record in Chorby. If you need a child’s payment card or purchase controls, those require a separate service.

Different rewards in the same household
Choose Gems, Cash, or an optional allowance for each person. Gems profiles can have weekly allowance alongside their Gem Shop rewards. Cash profiles earn money from tasks and do not use the Gem Shop. Your whole family can use Cash, or you can mix modes.

Questions about allowance tracking
Do I need a weekly allowance to pay for chores?
No. Cash profiles can record individual task earnings with weekly allowance turned off.
Does payday automatically transfer money?
No. Chorby records the weekly allowance. Parents provide the actual payment and record money taken out of the balance.
Can kids use one family tablet?
Yes. Chorby Hub supports a shared iPad or Android tablet, so each child does not need a phone. You can manage the family from your own device.
