Chore rewards for families
A family movie, choosing dinner, or saving for an outing: build a reward system around things your family enjoys. Chorby connects tasks to Gems and a Gem Shop you control, with an adventure map or simple list for each person.
iPhone, iPad, and Android. Parent access requires a subscription or trial.
Gems are points inside Chorby. They cannot be bought with real money or exchanged for money from Chorby.
You do not need a shop full of purchases. Start with two or three choices you can follow through on. These are examples to adapt, not built-in offers from Chorby.
Pick the family board game, dinner, or movie.
Agree on the available choices before it goes in the shop.
A baking afternoon, park visit, or one-on-one activity.
Choose something a parent can realistically make time for.
A planned outing or a small item your child wants.
Make the cost and any spending limit clear from the start.
An agreed game or TV session.
Set the amount together; screen time does not have to be part of your rewards.
A simple example: if your family sets a task at 5 Gems and a board-game choice at 25 Gems, five approved completions earn that choice. Those are sample values; you set the amounts and provide the reward.
Choose what works for each family member. Gems profiles use the Gem Shop. Cash profiles record money earned from tasks and do not use Gems or the Gem Shop. A weekly allowance is a separate option, available alongside either Gems or Cash.
Your whole household can use Cash, or people can use different modes. Parents and children can also track tasks without rewards. Reward choices are not age rules.
See how Cash earnings and weekly allowance differ, including an example week. Chorby records money; parents provide the actual payment.
Scheduled tasks build progress along an Adventure Map, with forest, ocean, mountain, desert, and cosmic themes. Each person can switch to a simple task list while keeping their task rewards and eligible progress bonuses.
Daily Goals, streaks, and badges recognize progress. Open and Occasional tasks can earn their set reward, but do not earn XP or map progress. A shared Family Hub on an iPad or Android tablet lets kids participate without each having a phone.
Task approval and reward approval are separate choices. Optional photo proof can help with a task that needs a closer look. Gem Shop rewards require parent approval by default; parents can change that setting.
When a child buys a reward, the Gems leave their balance while the request awaits approval. Rejecting the request returns the Gems. These controls are included with parent access. Learn more about optional photo proof.
No. Your family decides which responsibilities earn rewards. You can also choose a profile that tracks tasks without rewards.
Yes. Add a family activity, outing, or another reward you agree on. Parents fulfill the reward; Chorby does not book activities or buy items.
